Over 6,500 adolescents live in Coppell, Texas. Almost half of them met the criteria for depression in 2023. Two-thirds of kids with major depressive disorder never receive treatment.
This doesn’t have to be the case. Quality mental health care is available for teens in the Coppell area. At Bricolage, we work to make it as accessible and effective as possible so your child can regain control of their mental health and thrive. Here’s more about what we do and why it works.
Many treatment centers promote themselves as “evidence-based,” meaning their approaches are supported by reliable research and have been shown to help teens’ mental health. Bricolage is no different in this area – we use only methods with proven results, so your teen spends time on therapies that genuinely work and support their growth.
While evidence-based care is essential, lasting recovery requires more than just effective treatment models. It’s also about empowering teens with practical, healthy skills to navigate life’s challenges and maintain their mental health. The specific skills we emphasize at Bricolage are tailored to each teen’s unique needs, and together, we practice them until they become second nature.
Some skills teens may develop and strengthen with us at Bricolage include:
Bricolage has several unique qualities that make us unlike any teen mental health center in the country. Here are just a few.
Therapy is enlightening and provides a lot of valuable insight for teens, but applying that new knowledge to real-world situations is different. That’s why we dedicate time for every teen to actively practice essential skills, making sure they can confidently use them outside of our facility and where it really matters.
Our approach isn’t centered on pointing out what teens are doing wrong. While it’s necessary to recognize and address unhelpful thoughts or behaviors, it’s equally important to highlight when teens use positive and productive habits. We emphasize building on their strengths, creating learning opportunities that uplift them and don’t discourage them. When we do point out a weaker area, we always offer actionable alternatives, helping teens let go of old patterns and embrace healthier choices.
Here are just a few of the skills your teen might learn at Bricolage:
Every teen is unique, with important strengths and needs that make them who they are. Bricolage’s treatment plans are crafted with these differences in mind. Your teen is guaranteed care specialized just for them.
At Bricolage, we take a holistic approach to teen mental health, recognizing that every part of the brain contributes to a young person’s thoughts, feelings, and perspective.
True healing requires attention to all areas, not just those tied to specific symptoms. That’s why we address mental health as a whole in our care.
Family involvement plays a vital role in every child’s journey to recovery. Support from loved ones is crucial during treatment and beyond. Knowing how best to help isn’t always straightforward, so our day program includes dedicated family therapy sessions where parents and caregivers learn practical skills to empower their children – and themselves.
No matter which level of care your teen is involved in, our team communicates clearly every step of the way. We ensure families are kept in the loop about their child’s progress and offer guidance to support them throughout treatment.
Our team has extensive experience supporting teens and includes psychiatrists, nurses, and other dedicated professionals ready to assist each child in our care. We emphasize growth, both in our kids and ourselves. We actively seek out new knowledge and continually update our practices. By integrating the latest research, we ensure our treatment remains effective, evidence-based, and tailored to support your teen’s healing process.

Our two primary programs are our intensive outpatient program (IOP) and our partial hospitalization program (PHP), also known as day treatment.
Which option is best depends entirely on your teen’s situation. Both are effective and helpful, but they offer some different features. Our chart below will tell you more.
| What’s The Program? | What Does a Week Look Like? | How Long Does It Last? | Who Benefits Most? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intensive outpatient (IOP) | Three-hour meetings three days a week. Weekly health check-in and medication check-in. Various therapies are based on your teen’s recovery goals, including whole-group therapy. | Depends on your teen’s needs, but six weeks on average. Can be adjusted as needed, and there’s no “wrong” timeline. | Teens who need treatment, but want to remain in traditional schooling, the majority of the time. They are healthy enough to function safely in their regular lives and apply the skills they learn in therapy immediately. |
| Partial hospitalization/day program (PHP) | Six-hour days, five days a week. Weekly health check-in and medication check-in twice weekly. Two hours of academic support time daily. Various therapies are based on your teen’s recovery goals, including whole-group therapy and family therapy. | Depends on your teen’s needs, but six weeks on average. Can be adjusted as needed, and there’s no “wrong” timeline. After the conclusion of PHP, teens will attend IOP, coming out to a total of 12 weeks of treatment on average. | Teens who are in need of a more intensive, structured treatment plan. Their mental health may interfere significantly enough that attending regular school isn’t reasonable. |
Bricolage doesn’t believe in mental health treatment that thinks “inside the box.” Many teens have complex mental health situations, or don’t have a diagnosis at all. All teens who need mental health support are welcome at our facility, no matter what they’re living with. A few of the symptoms and mental health conditions we treat are:
This isn’t all we treat! Please reach out to us even if your teen is managing something not listed here. We’d love to help.
Our expertise enables us to diagnose mental health conditions when appropriate. That being said, we believe that why teens experience their symptoms matters more than what we call them. Here are a few reasons why:
Bricolage’s treatment is unlike any other facility in the country. Here are just some of the qualities that make us unique.
The stereotypical group therapy session involves a counselor going around a circle, asking each person to share something related to their mental health that week. You can argue that this method is better than nothing, but group therapy can and should be significantly more effective than that.
Bricolage’s teen whole-group therapy is different. Here are a few of the features that make it unique from traditional group therapy:
We mix up the ways we practice skills. Teens read through worksheets, journal, watch videos, roleplay in pairs, and more. This variety really makes lessons “click” in each teen’s brain.
We work hard to truly get to know your child beyond a diagnosis or their mental health symptoms. What motivates them, encourages them, drives them, and empowers them is vital, and it’s just as important to us as the areas that cause them the most pain. We listen to every kid who comes to us and earn their trust – because we realize opening up to a mental health professional isn’t easy! Building that trust is a crucial part of teens’ belief that treatment can help them, and it gives them the boost they need to be an active participant in improving their mental health and overall well-being.
Our number one goal at Bricolage is to empower your teen to create lasting brain change. As they learn healthy skills and correct harmful thoughts and behavior, the circuitry in their brain actively changes! Those changes in the brain are necessary for true healing. It’s challenging, but the effort is well worth it.
We see medication as an important part of our toolbox, but not the only way to improve mental health. It’s just that – a tool. Think of it like training wheels as your teen learns what it takes to change their brain and truly tackle their symptoms. Whether medication is a long-term part of your teen’s treatment plan depends on what they need, but it’s not the only solution.
