Adult Mental Health Treatment

Bricolage Behavioral Health offers adult mental health treatment through an evening intensive outpatient program (IOP) in Flower Mound, Texas. It is structured, clinical support for adults who are navigating mental health and substance use challenges, available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

The program was built around a simple reality – most adults cannot pause work, family, and daily responsibilities to access daytime treatment. The evening IOP delivers the same evidence-based, whole-group engagement model that has driven Bricolage's adolescent program since 2019; intensive enough to produce real, lasting change, and scheduled around the life that continues outside of it.

What We Treat: Mental Health

Adult mental health treatment

Bricolage Behavioral Health's adult IOP addresses a wide range of mental health conditions in adults 18 and older. The conditions below represent the most common presentations seen in the program – but this list is not exhaustive. If a specific concern is not listed, the admissions team is the right first call to determine whether the program is the right fit.

Adults in the evening IOP may be navigating:

Mental health conditions rarely travel alone; most adults who come to Bricolage are managing more than one of the above – a pattern of anxiety and depression, or trauma driving substance use, or emotional dysregulation running underneath everything else.

The assessment process at intake identifies the full clinical picture, ensuring the treatment plan addresses the root drivers of the issues while accounting for the presenting complaint.

The Evening IOP: What Treatment Looks Like

Adult mental health treatment

The adult evening IOP at Bricolage Behavioral Health is a structured and clinically intensive program that runs three evenings per week – without pulling anyone out of work, family, or daily life to participate. The program is designed for adults who need more therapeutic support and structure than what once-a-week counseling can provide, and is delivered at hours that make showing up an actual possibility.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

Each three-hour session is structured from start to finish, with every minute of program time serving a specific clinical purpose. Sessions begin immediately with active participation, prioritizing direct clinical engagement from the very first minute. Treatment starts on the first evening and builds from there, with the clinical team reassessing progress regularly to make sure the pace and focus reflect where each individual actually is.

The schedule below reflects what participants can expect from the program:

Program Days Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Program Hours 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Session Format Structured whole-group therapy with active participation throughout
Average Program Length Approximately 6 weeks, based on clinical need
Location 3204 Long Prairie Road, Suite A, Flower Mound, TX 75022

Every session is led by a licensed master's-level therapist and structured around active skill practice. Participants leave each evening with something concrete – a skill practiced, a pattern identified, a strategy tested in real time with peers. Progress is assessed regularly throughout the program, and the treatment plan adjusts as the individual moves forward.

How Whole-Group Engagement Works for Adults

Most group therapy programs operate the same way: one person speaks while everyone else waits for their turn. But, for adults navigating real and complex challenges, that approach rarely produces the momentum needed to create lasting change. At Bricolage, every participant is actively involved throughout every session – not as a passive observer, but as an engaged contributor to their own recovery and to that of the people around them.

The whole-group engagement model uses four primary formats to build skills through active practice:

1

Focus tasks: Structured exercises that target specific skills and require every participant to engage simultaneously

2

Pair work: Direct one-on-one interaction with a peer to practice communication, perspective-taking, and collaborative problem-solving

3

Project-based activities: Collaborative work that mirrors the kinds of challenges adults face outside the therapy room

4

Role play: Practicing new responses to difficult situations in a safe, supported environment before applying them in real life

The research behind this approach is grounded in neuroplasticity – the brain builds and strengthens the pathways it uses. Practicing a skill repeatedly in a structured, supported group setting creates the kind of neural reinforcement that translates into real behavioral change.

At Bricolage, the group itself is a clinical tool, and every session is designed to use it intentionally.

Who the Adult Evening IOP at Bricolage Is For

The adult evening IOP at Bricolage Behavioral Health serves adults 18 and older who are navigating mental health or substance use challenges significant enough to require more structure than standard outpatient therapy can provide, but who do not need, or are not ready for, a residential or inpatient level of care.

The program was built specifically for working adults, caregivers, and anyone whose daily responsibilities have previously made daytime treatment inaccessible.

Program Feature Weekly Outpatient Therapy Bricolage Adult Evening IOP
Hours of clinical contact per week ~1 hour ~9 hours
Session format Individual or small group Whole-group engagement — active participation throughout
Skill practice Discussion-based Active practice through role play, pair work, and projects
Peer accountability Limited Built into every session
Schedule Flexible, typically daytime Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 6:00–9:00 PM
Average program length Ongoing ~6 weeks

The evening IOP is the right level of care for adults who have tried weekly therapy and found it helpful but insufficient, adults who are managing a mental health condition that is actively affecting daily functioning, or adults who are stepping down from a higher level of care who need continued structure before transitioning to standard outpatient support.

If there is uncertainty about whether the program is the right fit, the admissions team will assess that directly in the very first call.

What to Expect When You Start

Starting any new program carries a natural level of uncertainty, and the admissions process at Bricolage Behavioral Health is designed to remove as much of that as possible before the first evening begins. Every step from the first phone call to the first session is handled with the goal of making the process clear, direct, and low-pressure.

Admissions at Bricolage moves through four straightforward steps, each designed to confirm fit before any commitment is made:

1

The first call. A conversation with a member of our admissions team to understand what is going on, answer questions, and determine whether the adult evening IOP is clinically appropriate. There is no obligation at this stage. The team is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM and Saturday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

2

The assessment. A no-cost, comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation with a licensed clinician – available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The assessment covers any current symptoms, your history and goals, as well as any co-occurring conditions to ensure the treatment plan is built around the full picture.

3

Insurance verification. Our admissions team contacts the insurance carrier directly to confirm coverage and explain out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins so there are no surprises.

4

Get started. Once your assessment is complete and coverage is confirmed, a start date is established, and you receive everything you need to know before your first evening session.

The admissions process at Bricolage moves quickly because the team understands that waiting is hard when someone has finally decided they are ready.

Your First Day at Bricolage

The first evening of the program is kept intentionally low-key. When arriving, new participants check in at the front desk, complete any remaining paperwork, and meet the clinical team before the session begins. Phones are collected at check-in and returned at the end of the evening – not as a punitive measure, but because the whole-group engagement model requires full presence from everyone in the room.

The first session begins the same way every other session does – with the group. There is no extended settling-in period, and there is no waiting to observe before participating. The clinical team is specifically trained to bring even the most apprehensive new participants into the group in a way that feels manageable from the first evening. Most participants find the first session less intimidating than they expected and leave with something concrete to carry into the next day.

Insurance and Cost

Bricolage Behavioral Health is in-network with most major commercial insurance plans and accepts Medicaid, making the adult evening IOP accessible to a broader range of adults across North Texas than most comparable programs. Insurance verification is handled directly by the admissions team – they contact the carrier on the individual's behalf, confirm specific benefits, and explain what to expect financially before any treatment commitment is made.

Accepted insurance plans at Bricolage:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Humana
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Medicaid

Out-of-Pocket Costs and Payment Plans

What an individual pays out of pocket after insurance depends on the specific details of their plan: the deductible and how much of it has already been met, the copay or coinsurance rate, and whether the annual out-of-pocket maximum has been reached yet. After verification is complete, the admissions team provides a clear breakdown of all the estimated costs before anything begins.

Payment plans of up to three months are available for qualifying individuals. For anyone whose financial situation raises questions about access, reach out to our admissions team before assuming our program is out of reach.
